TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Katie is just a youngster who has been with us a little while but we’re not sure why. We know that there’s a home out there for her. We do think she’d prefer to be an only dog but she will love her new owners with all her heart. She’s a real favourite with our volunteers.
The latest update on Katie is that she went for a trip to Stevens park. Though she had to be lifted her into the car on the way there, she got herself out ok at the park and jumped back in when it was time to return.
Back at the kennels it took two to get persuade her to get out – she was far too comfy on the back seat, oh bless!
At the park she walked well on the lead but was very excited when other dogs were around. She clearly just wanted to play (she isn’t 2 yet after all) and was easy to distract. Not surprisingly, she was most interested in off-lead dogs running nearby but after a few bounces she was happy to carry on.
Our volunteer said, “Katie got more used to other dogs being around as the walk went on, so will hopefully calm down quicker after a few more trips out. On the way back to the car, we met one of our other volunteers and Darcy (the basset hound). Darcy barked to start with which made Katie jump but she calmed down very quickly and was happy to stand near Darcy while we chatted, even going nose-to-nose for a quick sniff.
Katie’s probably a little too lively to be a “beginners” dog but is a very affectionate girl who would suit someone with a little more experience.”
If that person is you, we’d really love to get Katie into a forever home – she’s been with us far too long.
