TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Vicky is another one of our shy dogs that we have in at the moment. She’s a real beauty but she will need a quiet home where she isn’t overwhelmed so please before you give us a ring, look beyond her beauty and ask yourself if you are the right sort of home?
One of our volunteers took her out recently and this is what she had to say,
“Vicky enjoyed a trip around a quiet nature reserve today. She was unsure at first but once she realised that I’d do my best to look after her I was able to gain her trust quickly.
We saw a few dogs who we kept our social distance from. Vicky didn’t seem worried by them, being happy to stay close to me. She was pleased to (very briefly) greet a fellow greyhound. She was really calm and easy to handle with no pulling whatsoever.
She was clearly quite worried, panting. I brought her to my house for a visit and in the house she was calm. She was unsure about toys, especially if they made a noise, and didn’t lie down the whole time she was there.
She is very affectionate and loves being massaged, and also enjoyed a groom. She was inquisitive and looked around independently and even had a little go at washing up, getting her feet up to the sink very briefly and timidly. She didn’t try the stairs.
Vicky needed help getting on the back seat of the car each time. She isn’t as graceful as you might imagine 🤭. She settled much better on the journey back to kennels and overall travelled really well considering it was quite a journey.
Vicky is a total sweetie. She certainly needs help to come out of her shell-maybe with someone who is at home a lot or where there is another dog to keep her company. She’d definitely struggle in a noisy or busy environment.”
If you think you are the right sort of home to help Vicky become more confident, then please call us on 0121 426 4810 or contact us to make an appointment to meet this lovely hound.
