TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Basil is just a youngster at age 2 years old. He’s a big friendly boy – long and lean but didn’t really take to racing and took early retirement – clever boy he found the fastest route to the sofa! One of our volunteers took him out for the day and Basil told us all about it when he got back.
Hello everyone, I’m Basil. Today I went for a walk with lots of other greyhounds and volunteers, I was told I walked lovely on the lead, then volunteer Amanda came and got me back out of my kennel and took me to the play paddock. It was fun in there with lots of different toys but I preferred to keep going back for cuddles.
Then I had a special harness put on me and was told I was going in a car! It was a very tiny car, I wasn’t sure I would fit in but I did. I needed help getting in though as I wasn’t too sure what I was meant to do. We travelled for about 20 minutes. I was a very good boy though I didn’t want to lie down as I may miss something out of the window!
I was then took into a house I was shown around downstairs then took outside to the garden. I was a little unsure at first everything was so new and different. In the house I could see everything that was going on outside and it was fascinating!
I soon discovered lots and lots of toys, but for some reason each one kept exploding! Then we went out again, this time only a short walk into what I was told was a pub. They are nice people at this pub and have one of our collection tubs on the bar it was quite full so we swapped it for an empty one, everyone in there gave me a fuss!
On the way back in the tiny car I gave in and lay down. I got so comfy I didn’t want to get out when we got back to kennels.
Ooh I almost forgot, when we were going back to the tiny car a tiny tiny dog came running out of an house all excited to see me. Amanda held me tightly but I didn’t react. I think I was a little shocked that anything could be that tiny. a man picked it up and took it back into the house, but I couldn’t work out where it had gone! I looked for it all the way to the car!”
Basil told us he really liked visiting Amanda’s home and really wants one of his very own. Can you help make his dream come true?
