Oh my! What a stunning looking dog! Aptly names as he is a real dandy with his nonchalance, and stylish good looks.
Dandy hasn’t had much luck in his retirement. He was in a foster home for a little while to see if he got on with the resident greyhound, but it didn’t work out – nothing to do with Dandy, he was a star.
When he went to his second home, they found that he really did need the company of another dog to give him confidence and that he had separation anxiety and was quite fearful when out on his walks.
Neither of these things were isssues in his first home where he could be left for over an hour when he had a canine companion and was fine with other breeds of dogs.
Clearly Dandy is finding it too stressful in his current home and they owners just want what’s best for him and have decided that they just can’t offer him what he needs – another greyhound friend.
This is what his adopter told us about him:
Dandy is an incredibly sweet and gentle dog. He loves playing with his toys (especially the squeaky ones!) and rolling a Buster Ball around the living room. He likes a bit of fuss and attention, but is equally happy to lie down and go to sleep nearby. He loves having a mad minute charging around the garden and chucking his toys around, or hunting for treats.
He’s easily motivated by food, but he’s been a complete gentleman about waiting for treats and for his breakfast/dinner. When we eat our own food he takes himself into his crate and eats a chew or has a snooze. His house training is going well and he goes to the door to be let out into the garden.
Sadly Dandy really struggles to be left alone for any amount of time (though he will now sleep downstairs at night)
He’s nervous about going out for walks but he loves the garden.
He’s a lovely, playful dog with a very sweet personality, and once he has a little bit of confidence (and maybe some more constant company) he’ll be amazing.”
So if you have one greyhound already and have been thinking of getting another particularly if your greyhound is a confident dog who can help Dandy regain his confidence that he seems to have lost, please get in touch.
