TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Just a youngster, Dime took early retirement after he sprained his wrist. Although he’s right rain now, the trainer didn’t want to take any further risks so he’s taken the fastest route to a forever home 🥰
One of our volunteers took him for his first ever trip to the park and we thin he didn’t extremely well for the first time.
“Gorgeous boy Dime enjoyed a lunchtime trip to Clent today. He was super happy to come out of kennels, saying an enthusiastic hello to everyone he saw.
He jumped into the car with just a bit of encouragement, but didn’t settle particularly well. He kept trying to put his head on my shoulder.
Dime was happy to jump out of the car and get going. We immediately saw a couple of small dogs who barked quite aggressively at Dime but he never reacted at all which was an excellent start.
Dime walked really nicely on a loose lead, he’s a big lad and I’m sure he could be strong if he wanted to be, but he didn’t pull at all. He’s very affectionate and periodically leans in for a fuss and a bit of a chat.
He is very sociable and seems pretty confident – he loved going up to everyone he saw and no one could resist giving him a fuss – he is such a stunning looking boy.
Dime seems to be very food orientated, he was so excited to have a bit of sausage at the cafe that it made it almost impossible to post it through his muzzle, but we got there in the end!
I’m not totally sure of his reactions to other dogs – no issues at all walking past dogs or seeing them running around, he doesn’t react all. He did have a bit of a grumble when other dogs came right up close (remember this was his first time out into the big wide world) so will be good to see what happens in future trips out.
Back at the kennels he flaked out on the grass and enjoyed some tummy rubs, lying with his legs in the air and giving me evils when I stopped.
He’s a lovely lovely boy 😍
Dime did go home on trial for a few days and he is going to need someone who is home alot and who will work with him on learning to be on his own. Otherwise he has been a lovely dog but came back into kennels as the family could not give him what he needed.
