TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
On first impressions, Flyer appears like a very shy boy but once he gets to know you it’s quite a different story. There’s something special about him that has captured the hearts of our volunteers who take him into the office playpen to try and build his trust. He’s a big softie at heart.
One of our volunteers who has been working with him says, “In a 1 on 1 setting, and once he trusts you, Flyer is a different dog. Even in the first week of working with him, he was often trying to pull me across the field to explore all the sights and smells, or into another kennel block to say hello to the other greyhounds.
If he is homed to someone expecting a nervous/shy dog, they might be quite surprised after a week or two! After 4 weeks he has truly found his voice, and will bark at me if he sees/hears me nearby.”
With people he knows, Flyer will play fetch with a ball, even bringing it back and dropping it for you to throw again.
He went to Sutton Park the weekend before Christmas and our volunteer said. “Lovely walk to Sutton Park today with Flyer and two of his kennel mates.
First time out for all of them. Flyer was quite nervous to start with especially with other dogs and there was a few twirls and whines but by the end of the walk he was barely paying them any attention.
Considering there were a lot of unruly off lead dogs that didn’t listen to their owners, all three were brilliant. Glowing reports all round.”
So full marks to Flyer – isn’t he doing well?
Working with a dog and seeing his trust increase day by day, can be one of the most rewarding things you can do as an animal lover.
If you have the patience to give Flyer a chance to shine, he will love you with all his heart and soul. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Please come and meet this beautfiul boy. Give us a ring on 0121 426 4810 or contact us if you can be Flyer’s special person.
