Julie was taken on an outing recently – this is what our volunteer had to say about her:
Julie joined me on a trip to the park this morning.
She was quite nervous when I met her at the kennels and had to be lifted into the car. It took a while for her to settle on the back seat, her head kept appearing over my shoulder (totally in accordance with the Highway Code) before she eventually lay down.
She was keen to jump out of the car and get going once we arrived at the park. She was clearly anxious at first, very alert to every sound and walking at the very end of her lead.
We soon came face to face with 6(!) black labs, and while she was nervous of them and kept looking back she didn’t show any negative reaction towards them.
After 20mins or so she became more settled and less anxious, walking nicely on the lead most of the time.
There were a lot of dogs running around and she seemed to become more confident the more that she saw. She was still nervous when dogs were walking behind her, looking back to check what was going on.
She was nervous of people approaching her but would go to them in her own time. A small child approached her and she was very unsure, backing off and standing behind my legs. She was also a bit skittish when a couple of kids whizzed by on scooters.
She jumped back into the car without help for the journey back and settled quickly.
She’s a lovely girl – loves a fuss, at one point I sat on a low wall and she put her head on my shoulder.
Julie is a lovely dog once she gets to know you but we think that she’d be happiest in an adult only, quiet household.
