TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Leo has got such a lovely face. If his face alone was enough to get him a home, he’d be on a sofa by now, but we all know that it takes longer for the black boys to find their forever families, though we don’t know why.
One of our volunteers Liza and her daughter Leila took Leo out for a walk to Chasewater recently. They said that he traveled well both ways. He’s a lovely walker with an expressive tail – could tell when he was really enjoying himself. A bit unsure of small dogs but great with the other adults and children that they met.
Another volunteer took him to visit her Grandma and here is her story:
Leo is a true stunner. After some trouble getting in the back of the car Leo settled down quickly and travelled well. He coped with his trip to fundraise at Pets at Home . He was really good with anyone who came to stroke him, even very young children. He was fine with other dogs if not a little shy.
At the house Leo checked everything and responded well to verbal command when trying to pick up a shoe. Although he is not overly fussed by treats he did like the idea of checking the fridge, the oven and the kitchen side.
In the garden, the only thing he needed us to show him closer up was a stone ornament that he couldn’t reach. Leo did not want to use the garden to toilet, even after a big drink, so we took him a very short distance to a grass area where he immediately relieved himself. We had to go along a busy road which didn’t worry him, but he preferred walking towards traffic than it coming from behind.
Leo enjoyed giving his toys a good shake and squeak too. He showed no aggression or possessiveness. He enjoyed lying and having a sleep on the rug in preference to his bed. He lay in such an awkward place we didn’t manage to get any good pictures this time!
I think Leo would settle into a home really quickly, having relaxed enough to sleep he didn’t want to leave. He loves cuddles and is calm and gentle.
Leo often spends time in the office playpen with the volunteers and looks at them with the most amazing eyes. Please let Leo gaze lovingly at you a he really deserved a loving family. He’s been in kennels far too long.
