Such bad luck to Argentina and Lionel Messi on the footballing front in the world cup and our very own Messi has also had some very bad luck of his very own.
Gorgeous boy Messi is in need of the magic of the Fairy Greymother to help him out. Having been in kennels for a while, he did find a home in 2017 and was very happy, but circumstances changed and he has had to come back to kennels. Messi has gone from a sleek and glossy dog to one who looks rather sorry for himself, and it’s breaking our hearts. Can you be the one to put the sparkle back into his eye and a smile on his face?
Two of our volunteers, Rose and Adrian, who regularly take hounds home for the day have a special soft spot for Messi as he was the first dog they walked when becoming volunteers last year. The took him home recently and then to the pub as it was too hot to walk to get him out of kennels. Rose reported back that “Messi was so well behaved, no pulling, no begging for food. He was perfectly behaved. He is so gentle as well and loves a fuss We think he prefers ladies as wouldn’t leave my side, he followed me everywhere 😍.”
Messi is a gentle and affectionate dog, who needs a special sort of home. He will be best as an only dog, with no other animals in the home, as he can be reactive around smaller animals (although this is improving and regular training will assist with this.)
We also feel that Messi needs to be in an adult-only, calm household, as he can get a bit spooked by the noise and sudden movements of children. Messi’s ideal home would be one with lots of routine and few surprises. A local dog trainer who has walked Messi regularly says that he likes things to be ‘just so’ and would benefit greatly by going to live with someone experienced in all things sight-hound. Everyone believes that he will make a great companion to the right person and he really does love his people once he gets to know them.
Messi is a real favourite in kennels and with the Pet Blood Bank staff. Messi has already donated twice in order to help save the lives of other dogs – a huge thanks to him.
Messi has done more than his fair share of giving, now we think it’s time for someone to put him first and hopefully make him feel special again. If you think that you could offer this handsome dog his forever home, where he can share the TV remote and watch football to his heart’s content (especially in a football world cup year!), but we are sure he won’t mind sharing, then give us a ring on 0121 426 4810 or contact us .
