TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Power is now the longest stayer in kennels, and we just don’t know why. We think that perhaps his name and the fact he is “just another” black dog must be putting people off, but if you take the time to get to know him, he’s a lovely boy, with a heart just bursting with love for the right person.
At the moment Power can be a bit strong on the lead to start with, but that is just enthusiasm for getting out of the kennels and into the big wide world. He seems quite smart and we are fairly sure that he will take to training well, as he does love his food so we think he will learn quickly once he sees what treats are on offer.
Often the big dogs are the softest and Power is no exception. He has been kennelled with a girl, with no issues and he just loves being out and about with people, including children. The only thing we would say is that we wouldn’t recommend that he be homed with cats. Power is a big dog with a lot of love to give and we really believe that he will be a fabulous companion for someone looking for a new BFF
One of our volunteers has a soft spot for Power and posted the following on her facebook page after a trip out to Cafe Nero:
A special appeal for “Power” 🖤 Please SHARE
Almost a year ago yet another large, black, male Greyhound arrived at the Greyhound Trust rehoming kennels on the outskirts of Sutton Coldfield. Like many others before him, Power has found it hard to stand out to potential adopters against the “pretty” dogs and he is rarely afforded the opportunity to showcase his wonderful personality.
Those who have taken the time to get to know Power have come to realise he is very intelligent, which, combined with being food motivated, makes him easy to train and he already knows some basic commands. Additionally Power is incredibly gentle and affectionate, he simply adores human company. In fact, give him an ear rub and you will have a best friend for life! 🐾
Power does need some help to get over a few insecurities but he has made tremendous improvements in just a handful of short sessions with volunteers. In a forever home where more regular and consistent support can be provided, he will begin to relax in no time.
Power is a diamond in the rough and if you, or anybody you know, is seeking the most loving, loyal companion you could ever wish for, look no further than big cuddly Power 💎
if you would like to meet Power and give him the home he so deserves,, please give us a ring on 0121 426 4810 or contact us to come and see him.
