TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Power has been with us a little while and we’d like to find him a home. We believe that there is a home for every greyhound, but some just have to wait a bit longer than others. Power has been waiting patiently for someone for who understands him. Those who know Power, absolutely adore him.
Until they retire, greyhounds will have never seen another breed of dog and when they do, they can be quite fearful or anxious of them. Their fight or flight instinct kicks in but with time and patience they can be helped to manage their fear. This is the case with Power. Our volunteers are helping him learn about the big wide world…Can you help him too?
Here is a report from one of our volunteers took Power to the park recently:
POWER- A BIG SOFTIE AT HEART
“I managed to get up to the kennels this afternoon and took Power to the park in Little Aston. He is such a cuddle monster! He loves to lean and was quite happy to lean against my legs while I sat on a bench and we watched the world go by.
He does need other dogs to give him some space but as long as they don’t bother him he is quite happy to walk nicely on by but doesn’t like them too close.
He wasn’t bothered by children playing or cycling, although did want to join in with a game of football! He loved getting attention and was particularly taken with a young girl, he leaned on her so much she almost fell over!
I’d suggest he needs to be an only pet with an owner with experience of reactive or anxious dogs. I’m sure bit of time and patience will be well rewarded. He’s a softie at heart” ❤️
We also know that he responds well to treats, so being a foodie will help with this training. If you can help Power, you will be rewarded with a loving and loyal companion.
So if you would like to meet Power and reward his patience, please give us a ring on 0121 426 4810 or contact us to come and see him.
