Eclipse has not had a good start as he has been in two homes and spent a successful period with temporary Foster.

He has been in two homes for very short periods of time and in the initial homing he was doing extremely well but there was a sudden, unexpected change in circumstances and the adopter could no longer look after him.  She was devastated to have to return him but none of us know what life is going to throw at us. We thought that all the progress she made with him (house trained, better at sharing his toys) that we felt he would go backwards in kennels. Thankfully one of our volunteers stepped up and he's now in foster care awaiting a second chance for a forever family.

His second chance did come but unfortunately this was also short-lived because he was showing signs of separation anxiety and in the 4 weeks he was homed he was showing no improvement and his adopter who was looking to be able to leave him for a longer period of time due to a one day a week working commitment felt it wasn’t fair on them both.

So his return was difficult at Christmas but thankfully we were able to secure a space with colleagues at Dudley for his return.

We think that Eclipse is quite an unfair name for this handsome boy, he is full on sunshine! Given rave reviews by kennel staff and volunteers alike, Eclipse is a very happy dog, so much so that he has what we call a “happy tail” due to so much wagging. Whilst most greyhounds are happy living in the kennel environment, the same cannot be said for Eclipse and with this in mind, a couple of volunteers have taken him to visit their homes to see how he feels about a home environment. He LOVES it! He behaved perfectly and he wasn't phased by anything so we think he'll settle well into a home.

This boy really is a totally different dog once he's out of his kennel. He's super friendly and loves being out and about with the volunteers. He was initially a little unsure of non-greyhounds but with some careful introductions he's doing really well with his socialisation.

Eclipse is keen to explore the world so if you want a dog who you can fully integrate into your life, including days out then he's the hound for you. He likes to watch anything and everything, including frisbees, balls, running dogs etc. He has been kennelled with a girl and was fine, and has also been on his own (due to his tail) with no issues. He can be a little possessive with toys so we think he'd be best living with adults or older children who will ensure they teach him to swap if he has something valuable (he's been learning to do this with the volunteers and it's going well, he's a bright boy).

We do think this greyhound would suit someone who is able to spend some time to work on this separation anxiety and possibly someone who does not have to work, or perhaps works from the home where he can get used to life at home living with them, perhaps enjoying any time away from the home with them, until he realises he is not going to be left alone

Everything crossed for this lad to get his 3rd time luck home and we are sure he is going to make an amazing pet for somebody.

If you want to come and meet this handsome and very friendly boy, who loves a fuss and lean then please do give us a call on 0121 426 4810 or contact us to come and visit this lovely boy.
