TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Poor Eclipse - he was in a home for a very short time and doing extremely well but there was a sudden, unexpected change in circumstances and the adopter could no longer look after him.
She was devastated to have to return him but none of us know what life is going to throw at us. We thought that all the progress she made with him (house trained, better at sharing his toys) that we felt he would go backwards in kennels. Thankfully one of our volunteers stepped up and he's now in foster care awaiting a second chance for a forever family.
We think that Eclipse is quite an unfair name for this handsome boy, he is full on sunshine! Given rave reviews by kennel staff and volunteers alike, Eclipse is a very happy dog, so much so that he has what we call a “happy tail” due to so much wagging.
Whilst most greyhounds are happy living in the kennel environment, the same cannot be said for Eclipse. He's unfortunately becoming more and more stressed and we're keen to get him into a home as soon as possible.
With this in mind, a couple of volunteers have taken him to visit their homes to see how he feels about a home environment. He LOVES it! He behaved perfectly and he wasn't phased by anything so we think he'll settle well into a home.
This boy really is a totally different dog once he's out of his kennel. He's super friendly and loves being out and about with the volunteers. He was initially a little unsure of non-greyhounds but with some careful introductions he's doing really well with his socialisation.
He had a day out with some of his kennel mates and the volunteers who attended a recent RSPCA Spring Fair and he had a wonderful time. It was incredibly busy and noisy but he took it all in his stride. He loved the loud music so much that he thinks he’d like to join a band if no-one comes forward to give him a home soon. He was very reluctant to move away from them, even though the music was blaring! He also made some new friends including a teeny tiny Yorkshire terrier (see photos)!
Eclipse is keen to explore the world so if you want a dog who you can fully integrate into your life, including days out then he's the hound for you. He likes to watch anything and everything, including frisbees, balls, running dogs etc. He has been kennelled with a girl and was fine, and has also been on his own (due to his tail) with no issues. He can be a little possessive with toys so we think he'd be best living with adults or older children who will ensure they teach him to swap if he has something valuable (he's been learning to do this with the volunteers and it's going well, he's a bright boy).
This handsome chap is a very friendly boy, who just loves a fuss and a lean. We think that he will be a fabulous pet for someone who is looking for a proper cuddle monster then please give us a call on 0121 426 4810 or contact us to come and visit this lovely boy.
