Can you give this greyhound a home?

Mercedes has been out for several test drives! Her first trip out was for a home visit with one of our volunteers. She did so well considering it was her first ever outing into the big wide world and trying to make sense of those strange creatures – dogs that aren’t greyhounds!

“Took Mercedes out for a test drive today. This was Mercedes first trip out and she is absolutely fabulous. Opened the car boot and she jumped straight in and lay down ready for her journey. She walked very well down the main road.

We met several dogs, the first dog she just kept lunging at. I stood with her for about 10 minutes while I chatted to the other dog’s owner but continues to lunge. We met another dog a few mins later and she had calmed right down, I kept her on a tight lead but she really only wanted to sniff. The next dog we met she just ignored.

We took Mercedes for a home visit and she loved it. She ran in the house and parked herself on the dog bed and settled down. She is super fussy, and smiles and wags happily as soon as anyone catches her eye. She managed to go up and down 2 flights of stairs with no problem or hesitation. Laminate floor and tv didn’t bother her at all.

She likes treats, but doesn’t know how to play, she would love to and starts winding up to play and then doesn’t know what to do.

Mercedes has been to the park a couple of times and also joined several of her kennel mates at the recent RSPCA summer fair which was a very busy event. She’s gradually learning about other breeds but can occasionally be a little unsure and needs reassurance. She decided she didn’t really like the band who were playing (it was very loud) so preferred to stay in quieter areas.

Gorgeous, fun and friendly girl, almost perfect, just needs a little more socialising and would be great if she learned to play.
