Lets give this boy the retirement he really deserves

Toby has not had the best of starts to his retirement and he is only 3 years old.

He was luckily homed in August 2023 after only spending a month with us in kennels, after all he was a stunning blue boy.

However he was very unlucky because shortly after getting homed this boy caught an awful virus which ended up with him spending 13 nights in the animal hospital and there were times we did not think he was going to make it. It was a very difficult time for people at Branch and his owners.

Toby was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease and when he was released from hospital things progressed slowly and he required monitoring and specialist food to get him back on track.  Sadly unfortunate circumstances saw him having to be returned to us, thankfully one of our volunteers agreed to step up and give Toby the constant care and attention he would need.

Our Foster has continued to work with Toby for the last 5 to 6 months and has slowly been able to progress from a food mix 0f 20% meat and 80% vegan to this 2nd week in March moving on to a 100% meat kibble.

It's been a long game approach and we are happy to see how well has been getting on.

More unfortunate circumstance has resulted in the Foster no longer able to look after Toby so we are on the look out for a new home for him, preferably a short term foster with a view of full adoption. He has been living with another greyhound during this time but we would prefer him to be an only dog as we don't have fall back of kennels should things not work out.

Here are some Toby facts for those of you interested

    • A beautiful blue boy currently aged 3.
    • Good with all breeds of dogs he has met on walks.
    • Happy to be greeted front and back when out.
    • Just loves people and expects fuss from everyone. A recent visit to a nursing home saw him get lots of love from all of the residents.
    • He travels well in the car and loves to visit new places.
    • Absolutely loves his walks and can walk a decent distance, but loves lots of sniffs.
    • Plays catch and fetch with a tennis ball outside but he does not play much indoors.
    • He is still on a specific diet and will require some consideration on food stuffs not to eat.

If there is anyone out there who is looking to adopt a greyhound then this boy might just be able to become a great family pet. We think he really deserves it .
