Woody

Woody is now looking for a home because his family have been given an. Opportunity to migrate to Costa Rica and they do not feel it would be right environment for Woody to go with them.

So we are looking to help them find a new owner for him through the Home from Home process so it will hopefully prevent Woody from returning to a kennel somewhere.

Here is a profile written by his current owners.

So, we adopted the wonderful Woody into our family of four around three years ago and we’ve all been very happy together ever since! The four of us are emigrating to Costa Rica in August now though, and so in the best interests of Woody’s health and happiness, it is now time to find this greyhound another family to call him one of their own.

We took Woody on when he was almost three years old and so he is now almost six.  He has always taken everything about life in our family in his stride, he’s a very placid and laid-back dog and he’s always gotten on well with our children, with other children and with other dogs.

We are looking for a loving home for him first and foremost, with either an experienced owner or one who is new to greyhounds (as we were when we adopted him), ideally with no pets or a fellow relaxed dog.  Woody loves a relaxed, routine and easy life and so any family or owner that can provide that, whether one with children or without, will be right up his street!

Woody is a very calming and relaxed (horizontal in fact, given his love of lying around for hours on end!) presence in our home, and so would be ideal for an owner or family that is looking for a source of calm and of routine in their lives.

    Things he likes to do:

While Woody can be left for 4-6 hours at a time when required, he likes to be around people.

He does love a zoomie of an evening too and running after his squeaky ball when he does that now and again, and so a decent sized garden would be great.

Love a fuss when he wants it, but also likes his space when he wants it too, so much so that we sometimes call him ‘a cat in a dog’s body’!

He is very used to the noise and chaos that comes with living in a family too.

    Some other things to note:

He doesn’t do stairs and so even though we don’t have a gate, he stays downstairs

He loves his routine and so will (politely!) remind you if walks or food are not at the normal time!

He walks well on his lead.

There are no problems with people coming into the house, even those he has not met before, and he is also fine with other people and other dogs when he goes for his walks.

While he doesn’t beg for food at meal-times or make a break for food he sees on surfaces or anything, we do have to take a little care when we bring shopping in that he doesn’t go sniffing for things!
