Handsome Woody is a dream to walk and doesn’t pull at all, until he sees something moving! Then he’s a typical greyhound and he wants to get to it. However, he’s fairly easy to distract, and he calms down quite quickly when he can no longer see the trigger.

Lots of patience will be required by whoever adopts this lovely boy as he is very nervous and looks to his handler for reassurance that they’ll keep him safe. He isn’t too keen on meeting people he doesn’t know but once he trusts you, he can be quite friendly. He has initially been less keen on meeting men but if the person ignores him until he feels comfortable with their presence, he eventually settles.

Woody's been to the park a few times and has also visited a volunteer's home. The first outing was part of a large group of hounds and he definitely seemed to get confidence from others (safety in numbers!). On other trips, he responded to movement around him much more, although ponies grazing and dogs calmly walking on leads didn’t bother him. He has shown some nervousness around other breeds of dog when they are running around off lead and can bark and jump about but we think meeting more calm, on lead dogs will help him to learn that they're not a threat.

We think Woody would be best suited to a quieter home environment with adults only or calm, older children. It may be beneficial to meet Woody a few times before adopting, due to his nervous nature
