Another happy homing story
We love hearing from you about how your re-homed hounds are getting on and what they’ve been getting up to in their retirement.
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
A POEM TO NELLIE NO TOE
By Cath Brown
Just over 2 months ago, on a visit to Hall Green
We saw you in your kennel, with the sweetest face we’d ever seen
Your neck was bandaged up from a fall out with your mate
You reached out to our hearts, and the rest shall we say was fate
After 3 more lovely visits, the time had finally come
So on a cold morning in November you left with your new dad and mum
From the moment you jumped out the car and in through the front door
You knew you’d found your retirement home, no greyhound could ever want more
A comfy bed to lie on, a sofa to sleep on too
And as for hugs and kisses… well there’s probably more than a few!
The big new world may be scary, but nothing’s bothered you at all
You’ve loved all the dogs you’ve met from the big to the very small!
Housetraining was so easy, it was clear for us to see
That you were just so happy to go outside to poo and pee!!
Even being on your own, which you first found a bit of a worry
Soon became ok, so when I’m out there’s no need to hurry
So eight weeks after we adopted you, I guess I’m trying to say
Spotting Nellie in her kennel was really our lucky day.
