maria
We just don't know why Maria has been with us for so long 😕🤔
She is a firm favourite with our volunteers. She is a happy, friendly girl who loves giving kisses to everyone she meets.
Maria has been taken to awareness events, the park and to a volunteer’s home. She has taken all these outings in her stride, she’s a confident girl and keen to explore.
One of her favourite activities is playing in the paddock with a football. Her ideal home would be with a family with children aged 6+ to play games with. She is fantastic with children but may be a bit too exuberant for very young ones.
When she first came in to us Maria got quite excited when she saw other dogs but she has calmed down considerably. She could possibly live with another dog but definitely no cats or small furries.
Here is the feedback from when Maria was a guest at the home of one of our volunteers:
"I brought Maria home for a few hours this afternoon. She loves going out and jumped straight into my car. She travels well but likes to sit up so she can see where she’s going.
Maria’s a confident girl and quickly made herself at home; a little look round and she found the bed I’d put out for her. She soon found the box of dog toys too and took great delight going through them and taking the one’s she liked back to her bed. She seemed perfectly happy playing with toys and wandering round the house.
I’d half expected Maria to be a little too lively in the house, but she proved to be the perfect guest. She tried to counter surf once when I made a sandwich, but I told her not to and she didn’t try again. She was well mannered as she watched me eat but I think any food left unattended wouldn’t last long.
It was a hot day, but we spent some time in the garden. Maria was very interested in the chickens, watching them intently but without becoming fixated.
We had a quick walk in the shade in Hurcott Woods and then it was back to kennels for a well-earned nap before tea.
Maria really was a delight to have around (no accidents in the house, everything she had to do happened outside). I know she can be a little strong on the lead, but I really don’t know why she’s been with us so long?" 🖤
